So Delicious Dairy Free Milk...

I think my son is allergic to milk. Does anyone else have a child allergic to milk? What symptoms did they have that clued you in?

For Michael I discovered that the Trix yogurt I was feeding him for breakfast caused him to be extremely hyper! I wouldn't have guessed it was the yogurt until he hadn't eaten any for a week. There was a BIG change in his behavior. When he started eating it again he went right back to being hyper.

I hope you understand what I mean: it's the hyper that he can't control and can't be calmed down by doing a quiet activity. To tell you the truth I sometimes wondered if he were trying to get my attention because he didn't understand what he was feeling and how to express what he was feeling. My husband and I used to joke that he had the attention span of a gnat. Now I'm almost positive it was the yogurt or something in the yogurt.

Since this last month he's been off of milk due to extreme congestion (milk only aggravates the congestion which in turn aggravates the asthma) I've noticed a remarkable change in him. He no longer sits constantly tapping his foot during school time. He actually pays attention and can work for a period of time quietly.

This last week I started him back but on a Lactose Free milk, but because there are so many different types of milk available for sensitive people I now question which kind is the best kind for him.  What kind of non-dairy milk do you use?

I also noticed this coupon in last Sunday's paper for $1.00/1 So Delicious Dairy Free products. I have not seen this product anywhere. Has anyone else? Have you tried it? I'd certainly be willing to try it but am at a loss as to what kind of non-dairy would be good for a child who is allergic to regular milk.

HELP!!

  1. When I'm nursing, I have to cut out milk, because both girls were sensitive to it. I have tried almond and coconut. I really like the Silk brand Almond Milk. Very good, not gritty. I have tried the So Delicious non-dairy ice cream products, and they were great, but I haven't tried their milk. I think their coconut milk is a new product. I always bought the Silk Almond milk sweetened (not vanilla, just sweetened). I've found that unsweetened was a little too salty for my taste. I think they use cane juice, so I don't think it would affect his disposition like sugar might. Hope that helps!

  2. Thank you so much! I'm going to try the So Delicious and the Silk Almond to see how he likes them. He actually liked the Lactaid. He calls it his "special" milk. "Special milk for a special boy," I told him.
