Can you believe it's April already? We're finally able to enjoy a few days of wonderful spring weather: temps in the low seventies, a light breeze, wonderful sunshine, and NO humidity. It's the last one in that list that makes me so happy. It's coming though...it won't be too much longer and we'll be at a 100 with 100% humidity.
So I've been absent the last week due to substitute teaching in the Christian school: for the 5th and 6th grade teacher who had had some medical work done and then a high school history/science teacher who's wife delivered their first child. That meant super early mornings trying to get everyone out the door on time and then busy afternoons getting everything ready for the next day.
I was teaching the 5th and 6th grade when April 1st rolled around. Now I'm not a practical joker just because I do NOT like having practical jokes played on me. But I pulled a rather tame one on this class. I decided to take in a treat for them: Brown E's...
They were so happy to hear that they were having a treat of brownies during class. I followed my daughter around as she handed out plates and napkins and placed two E's on their plates.
The looks on their faces was priceless.
"Mrs. Smith?"
"Yes?"
"What are these?"
"What are they?" I questioned right back.
"They're E's."
"And...what color are they?"
"Brown."
Mmmm....they thought for a second. It was like you could hear the light bulbs clicking on in their brains. They were highly amused and slightly disappointed.
"Why then do they smell like brownies?" one girl asked.
"Hmm....I guess it's because I really DO have brownies for you."
Well, THAT made the joke that just better.
Happy Spring to y'all!
I LOVE this. It's a very lo-cal dessert.
