I absolutely love living in the South. Well, except for the 110% humidity during the summer...oh, and the mosquitos. They're the unofficial state bird here.
Yes, they are almost that big.
But it's February. Usually by this time of the year we're already painting our toenails for those days where it's just warm enough to pull out our flip-flops.
Until this last week. We've gone from sixty degree weather, to ice...
...the bushes and trees looked like popsicles.......to three inches of snow that fell in one hour...
...while we were in church. I white-knuckled the drive home.
Our school had already transitioned to remote learning for the first few days, so we were already at home. No need to worry about the safety of everyone traveling in.
Ironically, The Weather Channel was running a campaign to "Save the Snow Day" at the same time we were having this fabulous weather. With remote learning there's just no need to use snow days.
But our administration kindly saw fit to give us Thursday off, something my kids took full advantage of.
It did take us awhile to find hats, gloves, knee socks, winter coats...we just don't get weather like this here. We did find a glove here, another one somewhere else. They may not have matched but my kids certainly weren't going to waste this beautiful, wonderful snow! After a snowball fight and snow angels, it was time for snowmen.
Olaff, anyone? Now check out this hairdo...
And now one of my bushes no longer matches the others. But this snow girl sure is cute!
Almost all the snow is gone now and our temps are steadily climbing back to the sixties. I'm happy to report our snow day was saved!
Now, I'm off to find a cute nail color to paint my toenails. Time to pull out those sandals.
Simply Southern,
