You've probably heard the cliched phrase Love at first sight. Before I met my husband it was just a cute little phrase that couples in my aquaintance would say when describing how they met their fiances or new spouses.
Now when I say cute, I'm injecting a heavy dose of sarcasm into that tiny little word. It's more like roll-the-eyes, finger-down-the- throat cute, if you catch my drift.
But of course I had never actually been in love before, so how was I to know.
Until I saw this picture...for the first time...
All I could think of was Now why is he writing me?
Even after seeing a picture of me, a book-loving, science-teaching nerd, he continued to e-mail me...not once a day. Not even twice a day. Sometimes it was up to four times a day while he was at work.
At night we were on the phone after dinner, finishing the day with devotions together and prayer.
Don't worry! I was super cautious. After all, You can't judge a book by it's cover.
Just keepin' it within the realm of cliches...
*Cue the eye-roll and finger down the throat...I know.*
We met for the first time at the end of May 2006 when he flew in from Houston for the Memorial Day weekend. By that time I already knew I had fallen in love with him.
One month later, on June 29th, he popped the question; and with a little help from my Mom (her prompting of Answer the man! helped me overcome my speechlessness), I said yes.
That was thirteen years ago....Saturday!
Much has changed since then, a little more weight, a little less hair, a few kids...but one thing has remained the same:
Good things come to those who wait. Yes...yes they do!
Simply Keepin' It Cheesy,
