Everything's All Right...

Sometimes I feel like I live in Cookoosville...and I'm just not referring to my life. Although sometimes that's pretty crazy, too.

Is it just me, or have you felt that common sense is on a vacation? I really miss some good 'ol common sense; even a little critical thinking here and there would be nice.

One of the things I try to instill in my students is the concept of critically thinking through situations. That's why we have lovely classes like Alegebra and Geometry; Chemistry and Physics. How many times have I heard a student say, "Welp, another day has come and gone and I didn't use ______ (fill in a class: usually Algebra) outside the classroom."

There's a reason why we teach it: it forces you to think critically to solve a problem. The same kind of concepts can be applied to life as well.

But with all the craziness and cookooness (I don't think that's actually a word but it'll do here) we're living in today, I was reminded of a very simple truth at church this past Sunday:

Everything's all right in my Father's House,
In my Father's house, In my Father's House.
Everything's all right in my Father's House
Where there's joy, joy, joy.

Whenever I hear this song, I'm immediately transported back seven years ago to the NICU where my husband and I helplessly watched our newborn baby struggle to just breathe. We weren't allowed to hold him, or touch him; he was hooked to so many monitors...and there was absolutely nothing we could do. Huddled together by our son's bedside, I heard my wonderful, dear hubby softly begin to sing...

Everything's all right in my Father's House,
In my Father's house, In my Father's House.
Everything's all right in my Father's House
Where there's joy, joy, joy.

What a comfort those words have been to our family over the last few years.

Worldwide pandemic? It's ok. Everything's all right in my Father's house...

Religious rights infringed upon? Hey, sing it with me now: Everything's all right in my Father's house...

Censorship? Riots? Loss of personal freedoms? You know the words. Belt it out now: Everything's all right in my Father's house...you're catching on.

My Father's not suprised. He's not sitting in Heaven wringing His hands, worried with how it's all going to play out. He already told us what would happen in His Word: This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come...(2 Tim 3:1) Then He goes on and describes exactly how men will be: covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof...(vs.2-4). You would think this was just written recently and not thousands of years ago.

But in the end, He WINS! If He's not worried, then why should I be?

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow
shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto
the day is the evil thereof. (Matt. 6:34)

Chin up, My Friend! No matter how crazy it gets, take comfort in the fact that Everything's all right in my Father's house...and be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the word of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. (I Cor. 15:58)

Simply Steadfast,
