All Wrapped Up...

My apologies for being gone so long. At the beginning of July I finally talked my regular doctor into sending me to a hand specialist. After a run-in with the electric hedge trimmers at the end of May, I had a rather impressive scar, very limited movement, and a great deal of sensitivity. I could not type on a keyboard or play the piano without a great deal of pain.

My doctor did send me to a specialist...actually, the nurse practioner of the specialist, who immediately scheduled me to see the man himself the very next day. He took a look at the photo from my accident, did a feeling test, and promptly scheduled me for surgery.

It seems that the main nerve of my left index finger had been cut, but as to the extent of the damage...well, this was all going to be done on an exploratory basis.

I was warned I may need a nerve graft if he found the nerve to be too damaged to sew back together.

So on July 19th, I headed into surgery...
Thankfully, he was simply able to sew the nerve together.

Before the surgery I was busy doing as much school work on the computer as I could. Having your hand wrapped liked this...
...can be pretty awkward when typing. I have to use only my thumb.

But the wrapping and the stitches come off tomorrow and I'm excited to find out the progress underneath. Hopefully I'll be back to posting more here.

In the meantime...I'm still alive and awkwardly trying to go about life. Hope you are too!

Simply Wrapped,
